I do Pilates for my health.


 


I have fallen and had back injuries and use Pilates and stretching to manage and stregthen my body.


 


I have had a sent put in and use Pilates and Gyrotonics and the cardio exrecises to keep my weight down, exercise my heart and stay healthy


 


Three hours a week together with my golf, which has improved due to the stretching, breathing and reformer exercises I stay fit and healthy.


 


Matt classes whether alone or with a group usually focus on streching with constant new techniques being introduced weekly and monthly make this an awesome set of exercise.

ou could have osteoporosis for years without being aware that you have any problems at all. This is often referred to as the “silent disease” because people could have it for a long time without the disease being diagnosed.

The risk factors are age as post-menopausal women fall into the highest risk group of this disease.
Asians are Caucasians are prone to getting osteoporosis way above any other ethnic group of people.
If you lack exercise and you are a smoker you will be more susceptible to getting osteoporosis. Drinking excessive caffeine and being too thin are also risk factors.
When there is a history of osteoporosis in the family, members are prone to this disease as well.

There are, however, ways in which you can prevent osteoporosis:
Exercise is beneficial not only for the prevention of this disease, but will ensure that you live a healthy all-round existence.

Vital for strong bones is a good daily dose of Vitamin D, which we derive from the absorption of the sun.

All-round good nutrition is vital for good health including preventing osteoporosis; fresh fruit and vegetables is better than processed; remember that salt is not good for you.

Here are some tips that I use in a crisis when things don’t go according to plan:


Stay calm.
Don’t get upset, worry or lose your control. Frustration can often be a huge drawback because the angrier you get, the more time you waste when your mind is in a negative mode. Stay calm and focus on what you can do so that your day will turn out to be productive.


Determine if there’s anything you can do to help.
Often there is nothing you can do except to wait it out. If your crisis is that the washing machine has broken down you might be able to a) call the repair man and set a repair date and 2) get the dirty clothes in your car and head for the Laundromat.


Schedule in time for unplanned situations.
Always pad your time to prepare for unplanned situations that arise, like a traffic-jam or a long line at the bank. This way, when something happens that throws you off kilter, you are able to catch up quicker.


Just because things don’t always go as planned, doesn’t mean that the day should be a total wash out. Simply choose to do something else until the crisis has passed.

When I make meat loaf I bake it in little muffin tins and when they are baked. I pop them into the freezer.  When the kids come home from school, they can quickly heat up a mini-meatloaf in the microwave – its as easy as that and they love them!  They can also work for mums and dads and bachelors. Just add a baked potato and some veggies and supper is served.


 


ORGANISING IF YOU DON’T HAVE MUCH STORAGE SPACE


 


Cardboard storage boxes – the kind you get from the supermarket or any good stationery store.  Good for storing the kids’ winter clothes, or those little toys so that small boys can find anything from a wheel to a Lego part.

I put all of my handbags in them and have separate ones for sheets, shoes, toiletries and even Christmas decorations and your arty hobbies. Just make sure you label them so you know what’s in them. These boxes can come in quite large sizes and are very sturdy and strong. What’s more they are stackable, so they save space too!


 


THE KIDS’ ARTWORK


Mums feel really guilty when they have to throw away their kids’ artwork. I have 4 children under 5, so we accumulate a lot of it!  Here’s what I do: Save a month’s worth of their work, tape it to the wall and have the children stand around it for a photo. This will not only allow you to remember what your child looked like when he/she made those creations – but you’ll have a permanent memory of them.  When you are done with the artwork, use as gift wrapping paper for friends and relatives
